
Several students from The Anniston City School System participated in the Special Olympics in Jacksonville, Alabama, on Thursday, April 22, 2010. Many of them won in different categories. Anniston Middle School placed second in the banner contest. The 4x100 team which consisted of Malaysia Marbury, Tyra Ramirez, Devion Smith, and Xavier Austin won first place in the 4x100 relay. Marquez Ragland won 1st place in the 25 meter wheelchair run and he placed 2nd in the 25 meter wheelchair walk. Devion Smith placed 2nd in the softball throw and 3rd in the 100 meter dash. D'Angelo Matthews placed 4th in the 50 meter dash,3rd in the softball throw, and 1st place in the standing long jump. Malaysia Marbury placed 1st in the 100 meter dash and 1st in the softball throw. Christina Whisesant placed 1st in the softball throw, 1st place in the 50 meter dash, and 1st place in the standing long jump. Xavier Austin placed 1st in the softball throw and 2nd in the 50 meter dash. Tyra Ramirez placed 1st in the softball throw and 2nd place in the 100 mater dash. Tyrell Thomas placed 2nd in the softball throw, 4th in the 100 meter dash, and 2nd in the standing long jump. Last but not least, J.T. George placed 2nd in the 50 meter dash, 3rd in the softball throw, and 2nd in the standing long jump. We are so proud of these students!!!!! |
